- As you are
reading, highlight/underline important information. Don't highlight
everything.
- Break up
the reading. If possible, do a little each night vs. all the night
before.
- Stay focused.
- Be prepared--you'll
read a lot more in college than you did in high school.
- Read captions
under the pictures, graphs, etc.
- Write in
your book--anything that will help you recall the information.
- If the information
is confusing, ask your professor or TA for help.
- Read before
class.
- Don't sit
on the bed. You'll fall asleep!
- Read in
a place where there is good lighting.
- Use a post-it
note to mark important sections and passages.
- Take notes
in the margins.
- Answer the
study questions at the end of the chapter.
